There is a real revival in the study of Islam on the part of the general public, and a new inquiry within the Church as to the Church's relations and obligation to Mohammedanism in the face of the revolutionary events that have taken place in the Mohammedan world during the last four years.The world war is having a more startling effect upon Mohammedanism than upon any other of the great religions. The three outstanding Moslem centers, Cairo, Mecca and Constantinople, have been in the heart of the conflict. The Caliphate has been overthrown and the call for a holy war rejected, while Moslems have been actively engaged on both sides of the great conflict. The old Mohammedan world with its boasted solidarity is no more. No longer do the nations of the earth, as for twelve centuries, stand in terror before the united forces of Islam. While Islam is still a mighty religion, it no longer is an international menace. Millions of Mohammedans will continue to believe in their religion and worship Allah, but few will persist in their dream of Moslem world domination.
